HOPEWRITERS CHALLENGE: DAY 3 - "Shine"

As part of a personal challenge to myself to write better,  I am joining Hope Writers Challenges! This is Day 3's writing for instagram. This picture is the result of one of those silly quizzes on Facebook. “If you were a cat 🐈 what would you look like?” When I first laid eyes on this picture, I instantly noticed the intensity and focus in this cat’s eyes and the light reflecting off the screen, illuminating her little face. Laying in those bed sheets, this is legitimately what I look like before bed or in the morning to write to people I know and people I never will meet in person face to face. To give them an ear to listen and any life wisdom I can share.  The last few years, I agonized over the fact I wasn’t writing in my blog anymore or writing something substantial in a substantial way. You know, the big time. Published.  I took some time this week to go back through the archives a...

THE RAPID DECLINE OF LOVE: When Politics Become The Idols of the Christian's Heart

THIS IS FROM A PUBLISHED ARTICLE ON MEDIUM. You may not agree with me on my political positions and I will not go into them too deeply, but I do hope that you will take a moment to listen as I break my own silence to share from my own perspective. As I write this, our capitol is stormed by protesters attempting to overtake the capitol. This is the most surreal moment of the history of my life. Though I can’t say I didn’t see this coming, my heart is heavy. My heart is disheartened by the behavior of Americans. Especially the church. Ones who stand up against this type of behavior when someone they don’t agree with does it. Justifying similar behavior for their own causes. To every action, there is a consequence or a blessing. In this case we are reaping consequences. “Americans, we are killing love.” In the midst of standing up for democracy, protesting our election results, and arguing with the media, we have forgotten LOVE. Love of our fellow man. Lo...

I Said #YestoGod

This has been the hardest study I've ever gone through. All through it more events have occurred and more challenges than the last several months. The biggest one is my current relationship and the challenges we've had. For those of you who know from a previous mention, I am courting a man who is in the military. He is also long distance and I am a very friendly type of person. Loyal. I cherish any friendship I've had. I struggle with separation and loss even if the loss is helpful to me, to the point of feeling overwhelmed. The calling God has on his life is making me have to face so much loss. Including two friendships that were not healthy. In addition, I hate death. Especially with these threats of Syria going on. Last night my mind filled with overwhelming thoughts of being ill equipped, helplessness, weakness, and lack in confidence that I just couldn't do this. I fought him hard as more and more fears crept up till I had to make a choice. Last night was the pivot...

#FreshVision-Refocusing My Focus

I so look forward to Blog Hop Thursdays. Perhaps because I enjoy writing even if it's not the best. :P Every week I am one week behind in a chapter. Life has been shaking out that way.  At first I was so upset about it and tempted to beat myself up for my lack of personal organization in keeping up with such a simple online study, but each time I went for my book to try and catch up, I have felt held back.  At first I thought it was Satan trying to discourage me, but when the next week would come, I'd have the confidence and courage to pick up the book again and read my one week behind chapter. Funny how we can have a weekly plan rolled out, something that is meant to be corporately done, on the same page and yet God has something else in mind entirely. As a heads up, this blog post is going to be a little scattered since I am covering two subjects so hopefully it's not too confusing to follow. :) Last week I mentioned being in chapter 5 while most were then on 6. Well ...

#StickWithIt When God Is Speaking and You Feel Like Quitting

Boy oh boy. I knew this study was going to be a challenge in its content, not necessarily in its requirements and now I have hit that point. Here I am in chapter 5 and I haven't even touched chapter 6 yet though again, like week after week this study is speaking to everything going on in my life. I had no idea which topic to write on this week, but then it kinda just fell in my lap after what I went through this week. Chapter 5 spoke about naysayers. I am all too familiar with them. I recently came across some this week. I am such a person who just wants to be loved and ACCEPTED. I hate REJECTION. Especially from people I call friends and people I love who say they love me. But when faced with those you care about saying the very thing that would crush your spirit with a few negative words, it all of a sudden feels like a mountain got dropped on top of you. I'm determined to #stickwithit though and not let this bring me down. There have been soooo many changes in my life t...

Our Dreams>God's Will

For my regular followers, I am participating in an online Bible/book study with a weekly blog hop for Proverbs 31 Ministries. The book that is touching over 22,000 women from 120 countries is "What Happens When Women Say Yes to God" by Lysa TerKeurst. If you'd like to join and participate with me you can click this link When Women Say Yes to God. Blog Hop . Below is an assignment post. :) I kept it nice and short since there are so many to read! I feel I am being abit redundant by picking the same blog subject twice in a row, but my life is following a theme and with me still being young and not having as much experience as other ladies in this study, this is what I felt like writing to. I hope to add a little humor into a difficult day the one who reads this may be having. Humor is one of my communication languages. =D So here we go! You can have your whole life planned out. Who you will marry:     What your wedding will be like: what your li...

The Course of Life Part 2

You can find part 1 here:   The Course of Life: Part 1 THE ABYSS We ventured deeper into the abyss. An uneasiness fell over us and a sickening feeling crept into the pit of our stomaches. By now the sun had completely left as we found ourselves in pitch black darkness. We had to stop driving. Sitting in silence, gripped in absolute fear we waited for a "helper" or some beam of light to help us escape this depressing place. But nothing. No one. We couldn't even see each other with both of us too terrified to speak. That sense of despairing loneliness without truly being "alone" filled me. The car began to shake as wailing and banging surrounded us. We huddled to the furthest innards of the car's body, huddled on its floor. We were under attack!  As quickly as our unknown foes had ambushed us, the familiar crackle of hot yellow orange flames climbed up to the windows. We were being set on fire!! At this realization, I knew we were going to die, but a glimm...

"The Course Of Life" Part I

Montana Mountain Roads, CA to VA Cross Country Military PCS Move 2020 Dreams stand out to me so impeccably vivid. This particular dream had me waking up thinking I had actually been there and wanting to go back to sleep and see more. One of those dreams you could even see as a movie. It had a sort of Pilgrim's Progress feel to it with its own twist. THE CROWD I stood in a crowd so large that we all looked like ants in a colony. People of all colors and cultures hemmed me in from all sides. An announcement over a speaker system projected loud enough for all to hear. "Welcome to our "Course of Life! You all will be handed a map of the course by a messenger. The only rules are, that the straight road is the one that is the best choice of each road you will encounter. If you stay on it you will reach the end.   This is not the easiest of tasks however because there will be many distractions along the way. Grand places that will be tempting to stop at or turn into. If ...
